Who performs the surgery and how to verify it

Before surgery you have the right to know who goes into the operating room and to verify their training. Here is how, with data you can check yourself.

Who performs the surgery and how to verify it

Who operates

I see you and, if surgery is needed, I operate. The prior visit, the surgery and the follow-up are done by the same surgeon. I am a general surgeon with a specialty in laparoscopic surgery; I have practiced in Quintana Roo since 2011 and I see patients at office 501 of Hospital Galenia.

The licenses and where to check them

  • Physician and Surgeon, Universidad de Guadalajara, 2004. License 4290024.
  • Specialty in General Surgery, Universidad de Guadalajara, 2011. License 6901094.
  • Specialty in Laparoscopic Surgery, Universidad de Guadalajara, 2011. License 7292275.

All three can be looked up in the National Professional Registry of the Secretaría de Educación Pública, by name or by license number.

College and hospitals

Member of the Colegio Médico de Quintana Roo. Member of the Board of the Hospital Galenia Medical Society. I see patients at Hospital Galenia and also operate at Hospital Azura, both in Cancún.

What to ask any surgeon

  • Who will operate on me and who will give the anesthesia?
  • What is your specialty license and where can I verify it?
  • In which hospital will the surgery be done?
  • Who sees me at follow-up and whom do I call if there is a problem?

This office’s answers are on about.

Before scheduling

If you were told surgery is needed, start with a consultation

At the consultation we determine whether surgery is indicated, what the quote includes and the estimated time back at work.
