Fees

How fees are set

I do not publish a fixed figure because each case is different. What there is, is a well-defined reference scenario, a list of what can change it, and a written quote, with its validity period, once I have seen your case.

Reference scenario
Uncomplicated laparoscopic cholecystectomy, one night
Includes
Surgical fees, operating room, anesthesia and one follow-up visit
Delivery
In writing, with a validity period, at the consultation
With insurance
The policy is reviewed before scheduling

The reference

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy without associated complications, with one night in hospital. It includes surgical fees, operating room, anesthesia, and one follow-up visit. The reference figure is given at the consultation, and the quote is delivered in writing, with its validity period.

It is a concrete scenario so you know what is being compared: the same surgery, in the same hospital, with the same items included.

What is not included

Costs not included in the quote are listed separately. For example, studies before surgery, medicines after discharge or an extra night in hospital are listed separately. I break it down in the document, case by case, so there are no surprises.

What can change it

  • Conversion to open surgery.
  • Additional hospital stay.
  • Findings during the procedure, such as stones in the bile duct.
  • The scope of your policy coverage.

Any of these variables is explained beforehand, and if something changes during the process it is communicated before going ahead.

With private health insurance

With insurance, the quote is adjusted to what your policy covers and to what you pay, such as the deductible and coinsurance. That is reviewed with the insurer before scheduling; the office handles the paperwork. I work with thirteen insurers; the list is on insurers.

If you pay privately

You receive the same document: scenario, what it includes, what is left out and what can change it, with its validity period. Payment terms are explained in consultation.

Why there is no single price online

Because publishing it as if it were final would give a certainty that practice does not support. I prefer to show the scenario, say what moves it, and give the figure once I have seen your case.

How I give it to you

It is delivered in writing at the consultation, with its validity period. Any later change is communicated before going ahead.

Frequently asked questions

What does gallbladder surgery cost in Cancún?

It depends on the case. There is a reference scenario (uncomplicated laparoscopic cholecystectomy, one night) that includes fees, operating room, anesthesia and a follow-up visit. The figure for your case is delivered in writing at the consultation.

Does the quote expire?

Yes. It is delivered in writing with its validity period. If that period passes, it is updated at a new visit.

What if something changes during surgery?

The variables that can change the quote are explained beforehand. If a finding during the procedure activates them, it is communicated before going ahead whenever possible, and explained in detail afterwards.

Do hernia and appendicitis surgery have their own quotes?

Yes. Each procedure has its written quote, with what it includes and its validity period. The published reference is gallbladder surgery because it is the most frequent operation in the office.

Before scheduling

If you were told surgery is needed, start with a consultation

At the consultation we determine whether surgery is indicated, what the quote includes and the estimated time back at work.
